Castilla y León is taking a decisive step toward modernizing its agri-food sector with the launch of DATAGIA, the Digital Agro-Food Platform integrated into the RETECH-PAN project—an initiative developed in collaboration with La Rioja, Extremadura, and Castilla-La Mancha. In this strategic project, ARSOFT joins as a key technology partner, bringing its expertise in explainable AI, smart analytics, industrial IIoT networks, and immersive Augmented Reality experiences, with the goal of transforming the agri-food value chain, from traceability to by-product reutilization.
Advanced technology serving the sector
DATAGIA, conceived as the evolution of the InfOrigen and Symbiocyl projects, aims to transform the agri-food value chain through advanced technologies, smart analytics, and new digital services. The strategy is structured around specialized modules addressing everything from traceability and by-product reutilization to the use of explainable AI, industrial IIoT networks, and immersive interfaces based on augmented reality.
A technological architecture for a sector in transformation
The project’s deployment in Castilla y León is supported by several key pillars, including a comprehensive traceability system capable of certifying information at each point of the value chain, a circular optimization module focused on waste reutilization, and an IIoT framework that will enable process monitoring through connected devices and technologies such as 5G and NB-IoT.
The project also incorporates an explainable AI engine designed to enhance decision-making in areas such as anomaly detection, disease prediction, and advanced machinery maintenance. Added to this is an augmented reality module that paves the way for immersive tools for training, remote assistance, and advanced data visualization.
At the core of this technological ecosystem lies the future Agri-Food Data Space, an infrastructure based on Gaia-X European standards that will enable secure, governed, and interoperable data exchange among companies, producers, and public administrations.

The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development of the Government of Castilla y León, together with the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León (ITACyL), officially presented the project’s progress on December 1st in Valladolid.
