ARSOFT participates in the webinar ‘How Artificial Intelligence can improve our lives’

Santiago González, CEO of ARSOFT, participated along with several experts in a webinar on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in different sectors organized by BBVA and El Norte de Castilla.

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence and its numerous applications is one of the great challenges of today’s society. This technology is increasingly being used in sectors such as industry, medicine and education and, although it is still in an initial phase, many experts are already saying that it will bring about a revolution comparable to that generated by the Internet.

Artificial Intelligence and its application in the daily life of society was discussed in a webinar organized jointly by BBVA and the newspaper EL Norte de Castilla, with the participation, among others, of the CEO of ARSOFT, Santiago González. An initiative to address issues such as the application of this intelligent technology in the business world.

Artificial Intelligence focuses on the creation of computer systems and programs that can perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. It is based on the development of algorithms and mathematical models that allow machines to process and analyze large amounts of data to make decisions or perform specific actions.

In this context, Santiago González explained how Artificial Intelligence is being used at ARSOFT. He spoke about the NextMed platform, developed to help healthcare professionals visualize DICOM medical images obtained from CT (Computed Axial Tomography) scans.

The ARSOFT CEO explained that NextMed allows the physician to upload these DICOM images to the platform and then choose the anatomical structures to be segmented. Currently, the segmentation of medical images is a lengthy process that is carried out manually by healthcare professionals. For this reason, a tool is needed to facilitate this task and save time. This is where the NextMed platform comes into play, in which artificial intelligence algorithms have been trained with a wide variety of medical cases to solve the task of segmenting anatomical structures. This offers physicians and surgeons the possibility of automatic segmentation using vision and artificial intelligence technologies.

The webinar ‘How Artificial Intelligence can improve our lives’ was also attended by Ángela Gonzalo, head of Data Strategy at BBVA Spain and Manuel Barrio Solorzano, director of the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Valladolid.
