ARSOFT’s NextMed platform honored in AWE USA 2023 Auggie Awards

The annual Auggie Awards are considered the most important international Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality industry awards. The NextMed solution has been awarded in the category of “Best Healthcare and Wellness Solution” after competing with companies from all over the world.

The Salamanca-based company ARSOFT, dedicated to developing Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality solutions for sectors such as medicine and industry, has been awarded at the prestigious annual Auggie Awards for its NextMed platform in the category of “Best solution for health care and wellness”.

Santiago González Izard, CEO of ARSOFT, accompanied by part of his team, received the award at a ceremony during the Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2023 held in Santa Clara, California, on June 1.

The Auggie Awards reached their fourteenth edition this year with a record number of nominations submitted, finalists selected and winners announced.

The jury of these awards has highlighted the work that ARSOFT has been doing in the field of medicine in recent years. Specifically, the development of the NextMed platform has been awarded. A solution that improves the healthcare system thanks to the use of new technologies such as, in this case, Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality (XR technologies).

NextMed

The NextMed platform is designed for the study of medical images using XR technologies. Through the segmentation and automatic generation of 3D models, NextMed helps medical professionals to study and manipulate the 3D model of the organs to be operated on. In this way, and thanks to the three-dimensional dimension, it increases the surgeon’s precision and safety when facing an operation, as the system helps him to understand what the structures and tissues of his patients are like.

It is the only industrialized platform on the market that covers the entire process, from obtaining medical images and automatic segmentation, thanks to artificial vision algorithms implemented by the ARSOFT team, to their visualization with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

It is not a training tool with a static content, it is a tool to visualize different contents of each patient.

The Auggie Awards and Augmented World Expo (AWE)

The Auggie Awards has become not only one of the most important awards in the global XR industry, but also a key part of the Augmented World Expo (AWE), held this year in Santa Clara, California, on May 31 and June 1-2.

AWE is a meeting that brings together the most important international XR companies that offer innovative solutions based on technologies related to Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality and ARSOFT could not miss this meeting. There, the company from Salamanca presented two of its most innovative solutions, EyeFlow and NextMed. These are two platforms whose objective is to facilitate the adoption of XR technologies in two very specific sectors: Industry and Medicine.

Over the last decade, AWE has become the most valuable international AR/VR community working to respond to some of the greatest challenges facing humanity, and at ARSOFT we have joined this community to promote human progress through new technologies such as those related to Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality.
