Yet much of it is lost or remains fragmented across disconnected systems that cannot communicate with one another.
That is precisely the challenge DATAGIA is designed to solve.
On June 17, 2026, the Regional Government of Castilla y León officially launched DATAGIA, a new digital agri-food platform created to transform the way farmers, livestock producers, cooperatives, and agri-food companies manage, share, and leverage their data. ARSOFT, together with Telefónica, has played a key role as a technology partner in the platform’s development and will continue contributing to its future management.
What is DATAGIA, and why does it matter?
DATAGIA is far more than another farm management platform. It is an open, public-private collaborative technology ecosystem designed to transform data generated across the agri-food sector into practical, actionable knowledge.
The platform integrates information from multiple sources, including sensors deployed on farms, agricultural machinery, weather stations, enterprise management systems, and industrial processes. By combining Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics, and data visualization, DATAGIA converts this information into real value—helping users anticipate potential issues, optimize resource consumption, improve crop planning, strengthen traceability, and increase operational efficiency.
During the official presentation, Castilla y León’s Minister of Agriculture, Joaquín Antonio Pino, summarized the project’s vision by emphasizing that digital transformation only makes sense when it “touches the ground.” Technology should not exist for its own sake, but rather to help produce more efficiently, make better decisions, and create new opportunities for rural communities. That philosophy is embedded throughout every component of the platform.
Specialized technology for every link in the value chain
One of DATAGIA’s greatest strengths is its modular architecture. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, the platform provides specialized tools tailored to the specific needs of each stakeholder within the agri-food ecosystem.
Traceability — End-to-end product tracking from the farm to the final consumer, ensuring comprehensive documentation throughout every stage of the supply chain.
IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) — Real-time connectivity between sensors, machinery, and management systems across farms and industrial facilities.
Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) — Intelligent models capable of predicting outcomes, detecting anomalies, estimating yields, and clearly explaining the reasoning behind every recommendation to foster user trust.
Process Optimization — Advanced tools that help reduce waste, shorten production times, and lower operational costs across agricultural and industrial processes.
Augmented Reality — Immersive interfaces that support workforce training, remote assistance, and contextual visualization of digital information directly in the field.
EDACYL (Castilla y León Agri-Food Data Space) — Perhaps the platform’s most strategic component, EDACYL enables organizations to securely share data while maintaining complete ownership and control. Every participant decides what information to share, with whom, and for what purpose, ensuring full data sovereignty at all times.
ARSOFT’s contribution: building the technology behind DATAGIA
Within this ecosystem, ARSOFT has delivered several of the project’s most advanced technological capabilities. Its contribution focuses on four strategic areas.
ARSOFT’s Explainable Artificial Intelligence enables DATAGIA not only to generate recommendations but also to explain the reasoning behind each one in a transparent and understandable way, increasing confidence among end users.
Its intelligent analytics capabilities transform massive volumes of data—from sensors, enterprise systems, and external sources—into meaningful insights that support better decision-making.
In the field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), ARSOFT’s expertise has been instrumental in designing a robust, scalable connectivity architecture capable of integrating diverse data sources.
Finally, ARSOFT has developed the platform’s Augmented Reality interfaces, allowing farmers and field technicians to visualize digital information directly within their physical environment, facilitating diagnostics, maintenance, and remote technical assistance.
The platform will officially begin operations on July 1, 2026. During its first year, access will be completely free of charge to encourage widespread adoption among farmers, livestock producers, cooperatives, and agri-food companies. DATAGIA is already available through the portal at portal.datagia.es.

The RETECH PAN project and european support
DATAGIA forms part of the broader RETECH PAN initiative, a public-private collaborative project involving the regions of Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, La Rioja, and Extremadura.
The initiative is funded through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds under the Territorial Networks for Technological Specialization (RETECH) program, which is part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The overall project has a total budget of €27 million, of which €10.7 million has been allocated to the development of DATAGIA. The Regional Government of Castilla y León contributes 25% of the platform’s funding.
