How to create XR content for industry in a simple way

The importance of the industrial sector to the global economy is undeniable, encompassing a wide variety of companies in fields as diverse as aerospace, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and many others. This sector plays a critical role in providing a wide range of products that are essential to everyday life, and whose production involves complex and specialized processes. From the transformation of raw materials to large-scale production using advanced technology and skilled labor, the industrial sector is a fundamental pillar of global economic and social development.

In this context, technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality have in many cases become key value-added tools for improving efficiency, productivity and safety in industrial companies.

Here are some of the main applications of XR technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality) in this sector:

1. Education and training. Virtual and augmented reality are used to train workers in a wide range of industrial tasks, from operating complex machinery to performing safety procedures. Realistic simulations allow workers to practice in a safe, controlled environment, reducing risk and improving training effectiveness.

2. Maintenance and repair: XR technologies are used to provide visual assistance and step-by-step guidance during maintenance and repair tasks. Technicians can access digital manuals, interactive diagrams and instructional videos overlaid on the real world through augmented reality devices, facilitating troubleshooting and reducing machine downtime.

3. Design and prototyping: Virtual reality enables product prototypes or industrial designs that manufacturers can more easily visualize prior to physical production, leading to more efficient design.

4. Marketing and sales. Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality have become a very important tool in creating advertising campaigns. They are technologies that provide personalized experiences that capture the user’s attention and create an impactful, unique and memorable shopping experience. For example, they allow customers to visualize products in 3D before making a purchase, improving decision-making and customer satisfaction.

In Spain, a wide variety of companies, from startups to large corporations, are using XR technologies in different sectors such as industry, defense, education, health, tourism, etc., with the aim of improving the productivity of their business.

EyeFlow, the XR industrial content creation platform

Over the centuries, the development of the industrial sector has gone hand in hand with the latest technologies. In this context, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality have become increasingly important in this market, in many cases becoming a fundamental tool in the company. Thanks to these new technologies, companies are able to carry out any type of process more efficiently and safely. But how? With solutions like ARSOFT’s EyeFlow. An authoring platform that makes it easy to create interactive virtual reality simulators and augmented reality procedures for industry.

EyeFlow is designed so that anyone can create their own immersive Virtual Reality simulator and Augmented Reality manuals in a few hours through content digitization, without writing a single line of code, using a drag-and-drop system. EYEFLOW thus becomes a solution that helps companies to implement XR technologies (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality) at a reduced and controllable cost.

EU Machinery Directive 2023/1230

On June 29, 2023, the EU Machinery Directive 2023/1230 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union with the aim of ensuring the safety of products placed on the European Union market and the safety of users of these products.

At the beginning of 2027, this new regulation will come into force, allowing, among other things, the delivery of instructions for the use, installation and maintenance of machines to customers in digital format.

This change will allow companies to use these digital resources to take advantage of all the benefits offered by XR technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality), such as improving both process training and operator support, among others.

New European regulations require more digitized operating and maintenance manuals, and EyeFlow is a platform that enables the transformation of traditional paper or PDF process manuals into interactive 3D manuals.

In short, the future of technical process documentation is not paper, PDF or video, the future lies in the use of 3D resources and with ARSOFT’s EyeFlow platform, industrial companies have the opportunity to maximize the benefits of XR technologies in a sustainable and adaptable way on a large scale.

For years, ARSOFT has been helping industrial companies implement Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality in their businesses to improve efficiency and productivity.
