Thanks to the Metaverse and the increase in demand for augmented reality by industrial companies, mixed reality has positioned itself as the best technology to adopt heading into the future.
What’s the problem? Why aren’t you using it as the dominant visualization technology?
The first point to consider is that it is a technology whose display method is mixed reality glasses, currently scarce and quite expensive when compared to AR and VR technologies. This does not allow companies to adopt its use without renouncing a major investment.
On the other hand, technology is an emerging technology that is still developing, it is useful in certain aspects, but we do not have a device that allows us to take full advantage of technology. For example, the fov (field of vision) of the current glasses is small, which does not allow us to work or view at medium or long distances and only allows us to work comfortably up to one meter away.
What benefits does mixed reality in industry offer?
- Improves the formation of training processes: Just as we do in virtual and augmented reality, mixed reality allows us to visualize interactive training. We can generate training through real-scale models to simulate processes as we would with AR and VR or we can use these models to superimpose them on real machines and carry out the training process guided by our mixed reality experience.
- Remote assistance: using remote assistance software and using mixed reality glasses, we could receive support from a senior technician, without the expense of space, giving instructions on the screen in real time, placing marks in augmented reality on the machine and guiding an operator during a process at any time.
- Perform quality controls: The new way to carry out inspections and quality controls will be using mixed reality technology.
At a glance we can see defects in sheet metal, machines or vehicles and even at the same time information on the following steps to be taken to start a maintenance process on defective parts.
- Monitoring of industrial machinery and plants: With correctly sensorized machinery we can control the plant and the state of the machines by visualizing asset data such as, for example, the temperature, revolutions per minute, time until the next maintenance, etc.
- Renovation of the plant: The use of this type of technology allows companies not to have to renounce their oldest or poorly qualified employees and who, taking advantage of the previously mentioned advantages, do not need people trained in the new processes without adapting the skills of your current employees to the new methods.

How do we see technologies from ARSOFT?
At ARSOFT, as experts in this type of technologies, we take advantage of their potential and bring them to the industry through our EYEFLOW content creation platform. On our platform we allow the customer to view their training, maintenance and inspection content using mixed reality glasses.
Asimismo, we consider that the technologies are in development because their adoption is currently not viable by companies to digitalize their processes, once the fov is improved with the new gafa models and the load of complex 3D models is optimized.
