On March 18 and 19, the Albacete Air Maestranza hosted BACSI 2026 — Connected, Sustainable and Intelligent Air Base — the digital transformation program of the Spanish Air and Space Force that brought together more than 75 companies, organizations, and universities. Over two intense days, the Maestranza hangar became a showcase of what Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and digitalization can bring to the Spanish Armed Forces. ARSOFT was there.
Our presence at BACSI 2026 was not merely symbolic. Extended reality in defense is no longer just a bet on the future — it is becoming a tool with direct application in the daily operations of the Armed Forces, and the interest generated by our solutions during the event confirms this. Industry professionals, military personnel, and technical managers came to see firsthand how XR technology can be integrated into processes such as aircraft maintenance, specialized technical training, and equipment inspection.
EyeFlow: 3D technical manuals for the defense sector
Any organization that works with complex systems knows how difficult it is to keep technical documentation updated, accessible, and, above all, useful at the exact moment someone needs it — whether on top of an aircraft or in front of equipment in a hangar.
EyeFlow makes it possible to transform that documentation — manuals, procedures, operation guides — into interactive 3D content without the need to program anything. The result is three-dimensional technical manuals, step-by-step guides, and immersive training that can be viewed on a tablet, through augmented reality glasses, or in a virtual reality environment. For the defense sector, this translates into something very concrete: fewer maintenance errors, faster training, and technical personnel who do not depend on having an expert next to them to resolve an issue.
In environments where precision and response time are critical, reducing the time required to access the right information has a direct impact on system operational availability. Extended reality in defense, applied to training and maintenance, is not a technological luxury — it is a real operational advantage.
EyeInspection: guided, traceable, paperless inspections
The other solution that attracted a great deal of interest at BACSI was EyeInspection, designed to fully digitize inspection processes. The concept is clear: the technician performing an inspection follows a step-by-step guided process, automatically records evidence as the inspection progresses, and generates the corresponding report without having to complete it manually at the end.
In the defense sector, where traceability of every action performed on equipment is a legal and operational requirement — not an option — this capability has very concrete value. EyeInspection ensures that procedures are carried out in accordance with established standards and that there is a record of it, reducing dependence on the human factor in tasks that require maximum reliability and consistency.
Beyond traceability, the solution makes it possible to standardize how inspections are carried out regardless of who performs them, which is especially valuable in organizations where staff rotation and knowledge transfer are ongoing challenges.

Why XR fits into the BACSI program
The BACSI program is structured around six transformation areas: global connectivity, energy efficiency, information management, force protection, operational safety, and Sustainment 4.0. The extended reality solutions for defense that we presented in Albacete fit directly into several of these areas, especially those related to knowledge management, process optimization, and sustainment of complex systems.
It is no coincidence that the level of interest generated was significant. XR technology addresses real problems that the Air and Space Force has been trying to solve for years using digital tools.
